Has anyone's doctor beside mine suggested elevating the head of the bed? I've done it and it does help some. That and the omeprazole has really helped me quite a bit.

Yeah the docs told me this and it does help some. Also sleeping on my left side tends to help some too. Have you ever tried that?

I've always associated elevating your head with back pain. Of course elevating your head can work in a lot of cases when you are in pain.

Actually, elevating the head of the bed can help with many things. It can help with acid reflux, asthma, breathing better when you have a cold, etc. It never hurts to do these things to see if they will help. Also you can get a wedge pillow which will elevate the upper part of your body when you sleep which is also an easier way of elevating yourself.

All of the beds at my in-laws had the head of the beds elevated. I think it helped, but I always felt as if I were sliding down the bed.

When my son was born they thought he had reflux and they told me to elevate the mattress of his crib. It did help a bit. Also, when I was pregnant and my reflux got to the point of being intolerable, I slept in a recliner and that definitely helped.

I don't normally have acid reflux, but sure did when I was pregnant. Next time I'm investing in a wedge pillow as Rowena suggested, instead of sleeping on a flat surface.

Eat 2-3 hours before lying down. Elevate the head of the bed. If you
still have reflux of acid in the nighttime hours, try sleeping on your
left side.
