I still have acne as an adult and it's very annoying. I've tried some of the treatments from stores like Clearasil but it doesn't seem to do anything but make my face dry and itchy. I've been looking into some of the medicines sold on TV like Proactiv and Skin ID but of course you can never trust those commercials. Do these actually work? Are they worth looking into?

Try microdermabrasion treatments with a good skin care line. That has worked well for me. I have the treatment every 4 to 6 weeks or so, and as an added bonus it helps reduce the appearance of my pores and helps smooth some fine lines.

I think that Proactiv tends to dry the skin out a lot. Skin ID worked okay for me but I still had breakouts right before I my period started. I think you really just have to see what works best on your own because everybody has different skin types.

There are individuals whose skin is not receptive on certain skin products especially on acne treatment. Try to consult a dermatologist in order to find a cream/ointment/soap that best suit you.

I sometimes get break outs. I am glad that they are not that frequent. I think it is mainly because my skin is really oily. I have been using Loreal 360 lately which is a cleanser. My friend uses Proactive because she has a pretty bad case due to a hormonal problem. It works fine for her.

Hello smees,

I think you better consult with a dermatologist. And ask for what drug suits you.

I get topical creams from my dermatologist. I use, Glycolic acid, bleaching cream and sunblock.

Also I have Erythromycin solution. :)

Goodluck to you :)
