My chin is breaking out, but how do I know if it's just a "break out" or if it's acne? Or is acne, by definition, just a skin break out? Are they both (if they're different) treated the same way?

I'm pretty sure a skin breakout is just an isolated incidence of acne. If you're just having one breakout, then you might consider trying an over the counter medication. You could probably even just wait it out, and make sure you keep your skin clean to help prevent future breakouts.

I think acne is a lot of break outs all the time. What you might have is just pimples. I would start with over the counter pimple medicine too. If it gets worse then go to a dermatologist.

What's that stuff they advertise on TV all the time? Proactive? I think that's what it's called. Anyway, I had a boyfriend many moons ago who used that stuff and had terrific results. It's not that expensive either, I think maybe $20, and it lasts quite a while.
