Has anyone tried the oil cleansing method to treat their acne? How did it work for you? I find it intriguing but am nervous about putting oil on my face.

I haven't tried it before. I am also leery, because it seems like if you already have an oily face, it would make it oilier (no pun intended).

One of the most basic principals of chemistry is that “like dissolves like.” The best way to desolve a non-polar solvent like sebum/oil, is by using another non-polar solvent similar in composition: other oils. I've also been hesitant to try the oil cleansing method since it sounds odd, but jaime's scientific explanation has made me interested again. Right now I'm using Proactiv, and I hate the high cost of it, so maybe this would be a good alternative.

I think main cause for acne is oily skin. As per my knowledge oil cleasing method can't be helpful to get cure of acne.

HI guys … i also have the same problem because i have got a oily skin .. Oil makes acne worse. Try salycilic acid treatments. Oil clogs pores and is shiny and sticky on all skin types. that's a no go for sure.

As per my knowledge oil cleasing method is not good for the acne. Because oily skn is one of the cause of acne. And if we apply the oil to the skin it can make acne worse.

on your skin. So apply olive oil on the acne affected skin every night and you
see the result soon. There is no truth in that statement oil application
to acne skin would make it worse.

You better first get the ideas about it and you should look for ways to clean your face and then avoid the oil as oil grows the acne very much.

Oil Cleansing is dissolving and wiping away all the icky dirty oil from your face and replenishing it with clean, nourishing oil. There’s no harsh chemicals involved. No suds. Nothing to actually strip your skin of its oil. And this is good, because when you strip your skin of its sebum, it goes into overdrive, trying to create more. Which leads to clogged pores. Blackheads.

I don't know much about the oli cleasing meathod but as you guys have been discussing i suppose this would surly help.
I have heard that tea tree oil effectively treat acne but i don't know the method applying that on the face.
