Energy drinks and alcohol has been found to cause manic depression and anxiety problems in college students who participated in a study conducted by researchers at the University of Missouri and Oklahoma State. Not only that the researchers say that the potent mix led those who drink them to be more prone to depression later in life.
If that is not enough, the concoction was also found Log in or Register to read more… |

I'm not surprised. The reason why these "energy cocktails" lead to more daring escapades is that the caffeine in energy drinks cause them to be awake and counters the effects of alcohol. So they drink more and get intoxicated more and that emboldens them to do crazier things and be more prone to binge drinking.

I am in college and I've had these drinks. This is to be sure that I don't act crazier afterwards and because I still prefer to walk home. I think this is about as dangerous as drinking black coffee after you drink alcohol to sober up. That doesn't kill anyone, does it?

You know what guys, you should not take an upper at the same time
as a downer. Caffeine and alcohol tells the body to react to it in
different ways!
Remember John Belushi!!!!!

I believe that one of the problems with high caffeine along with alcohol is the fact that they are both diuretics. This means to say that they both induce the body to create more urine. Essentially your body will lose more water than it should causing headaches and various other symptoms (as described by a hangover).

I agree it's something that should be treated carefully however there are some safe versions out on the market that don't have any side effects. These are ones that can be used safely throughout drinking – hope this is of interest.

A soft drink usually has 19 to 25 grams of sugar in each eight-ounce serving. Energy drinks on average contain more than this. Red Bull, for example, contains 27 grams of sugar per serving of 250 milliliters (a little over eight ounces). This can be very dangerous, for an overload of sugar can lead to gastric emptying. The body becomes dehydrated, which prevents metabolized sugar from entering Log in or Register to read more… |
