This is a disease that really frightens me as i know it comes on pretty sudden. At what age does htis disease usually manifest itself?

I think that it shows up in middle age. I'm not really sure but I know that's when Lou Gerrig (sp?) got it. It would be interesting to see what a doctor has to say about that. Why are you afraid of it? Does someone in your family have it?

Symptoms normally show up in people between the ages of 50-70. Once the disease show up, yor muscles and tendons will become weakened.

I have news for you. ALS can strike just about anyone! Even kids can get ALS, although it is rare!
Usual suspects for ALS are in the 40-70 age range.

Well, ALS actually causes your muscles to become smaller and weaker, because there is simply no more nourishment that gets to it. It damages the motor neurons in your brain and spine.
You have muscle weakness in the legs or in the arms, you fall a lot, you drop things accidentally, or have difficulty speaking.

To be sure, you should consult your doctor. There are tests to rule out stroke and Parkinson's disease such as electromyograms and magnertic resonance imaging. Your doctor would also perform blood and urine tests on you.
