I have noticed that when I work out and walk up big hills and my heart gets a pumping, I can't breathe. I literally wheeze and can't get a deep breath. It lasts about 20 minutes after the walk. I'm thinking it's some sort of asthma? Has anyone ever heard of this?

I am sure there is such a thing. You should contact your doctors office and let them know what you are experiencing. I bet an inhaler would work well for you. You would only need it when you were exercising.

Yes, there is such a thing as exercise induced asthma. My son has it. He has to keep an inhaler at school. When he starts wheezing from gym class, he just goes to the nurse and uses his inhaler and he is better in a couple minutes. You should call your doctor.

This used to plague me all of the time, especially after I went running. I still get it when I run really hard but if I concentrate on slowing down my breathing and relax, it goes away after a while.

It happens to me too, but it's when I exercise and when it's super cold out. I didn't do anything about it, but I think I'll call the doctor too. It's really hard to breathe a lot and I figured it's just not right.

Do all inhalers need to be prescribed? I tend to see many commericals both on the TV and net that show some advertised for OTC. Or is that maybe if you have the Rx already from your doc?

During normal breathing, the air we take in is first warmed and
moistened by the nasal passages. Because people tend to breathe through
their mouths when they exercise, they are inhaling colder and drier air.

Is this a new problem? Why is it that I never used to hear about this and now it seems I am always hearing of someone who has asthma from exercise?
