I was one of those kids who had asthma problems but as I grew older, the problem went away. I saw the same thing happen with my son.

Both I and my brother had problems with asthma as children and we have both grown out of it. I still might have an attack if I get bronchitis or something like that but even then it hasn't happened in years.

I, myself, can be proof that you can grow out of asthma. I was diagnosed with asthma as a child of 10 years old. I didn't go to the doctor till after 3 weeks in bed thinking that it was just an ordinary cough. Right now I do not use my Log in or Register to read more… |

A child with recurring coughing illnesses, or one prolonged coughing illness, in the absence of wheeze or shortness of breath, is more likely to have infective bronchitis, or one of various winter viruses, as opposed to asthma. In such cases the child will not respond to asthma medication and the cough will persist. Unfortunately, this can lead to some children being put on increasing doses of Log in or Register to read more… |
