My mom is suffering from asthma like symptoms for the past few years and has consulted our family GP to get rid of it. She was adviced with Albuterol and Proventil for short while. Now she is fully under control. But at times she used to take the Inhalers to control dificulty in breathing. Can someone suggest a good medicine or she has to proceed with the adviced medicine?

I wouldn't give anyone advice as I am not a doctor. I think the best thing for your mother to do is listen to what the doctor has to say and research everything. I look up all the medicines and side effects that my doctor gives me.

There is really no cure for asthma but there are ways to keep it in remission. One of the ways is to use the inhalers the doctors recommend and the other is to try to stay away from stressful situations, either mental or physical. Both of these can cause asthma attacks.
Following the doctor's advice is the best thing that she can do.

You do not achieve 'remission' with asthma-merely control. As you say there is no cure, and you have to take the control (preventer) medicines-often steroids-for the rest of your life to keep your symptoms under control.

An inhaler is not a cure for asthma, but it does help to control and induce the attack. There are also breathing treatments that can help assist in treating your asthma.

Inhalers, even nebulizers, can't cure asthma.. It will only control the attacks so that no other complications may arise..
