Do you get into naming your children using the label "Jr."? I don't really get into it myself. While it sounds cool for some people, I think the kids deserve unique names without the label.

I agree with you naturalist. I think each person deserves their own unique and individual name so we have never been big on using jr in my family.

No. While my son is named after his father, his middle name is different so he is not a "junior." My husband is named after his grandfather, so he is "II" but we chose not to have a "III" either.

When my husband and I discussed baby names I was all for the junior if we had a boy. My husband didn't want that though. I figured it was his name and therefore his choice, so I didn't push it. As it turned out, we had a girl :)

Problem solved, huh. :) I wonder who started naming their kids after themselves and added the label. Do you think the royal families in the ancient times started that?

Naturalist, I think you might have just explained why some people choose to go with a "Jr." name. It adds some tradition to the family. While I can see from an individuality standpoint it could be looked at as negative, there is some value to a proud family tradition too.
