How do you know when its worth it to eat the cost assosicated with having an MRI done? My doc is saying its time to have one but honestly I have no idea how I am going to afford it, let alone what he will find and how much that is going to cost too.

Bennie if you do not have insurance radiology departments tend to have a self pay rate as well as payment plan options. Why do you need an MRI? If you do have insurance most insurance plans cover MRIs if they are authorized by your doctor's office. If you are worried about the cost do some research, call the radiology department to find out the cost of the MRI and then call your Log in or Register to read more… |

Do you have insurance? You should check with the insurance company to see what they cover for MRIs on your policy. In any event, I think it is a better idea to go ahead with the MRI since you have no idea "what he will find and how much that is going to cost too." It's better to get these things checked early rather than wait until it because more serious or your health is even more at Log in or Register to read more… |

I was actually in a car wreck years ago where the driver hit us almost headon, I say almost as we were in the middle of an intersection turning left and the other guy ran the red light on his end (we had the green arrow). The last it was left after the insurance and the lawsuit were all said and done is that if I continue to have issues to seek out an MRI.

So after the car accident you weren't taken to the hospital for testing? If years later you continue to have back pain you should definitely have an MRI done, it would tell you what kind of damage has been done to your back.
