I got rid of the neck pain due to stress, but I am suffering from a different kind of neck pain. It's like the muscles are painful but not hard like when stressed. It's more like when they are overworked. Is it possible to have arthritis or rheumatism in the neck area?

I have neck pain too, it involves some shoulder pain because I have been sitting for a long time with a faulty sitting posture. If you guys heard of Myofascial Pain Syndrome, I am currently suffering from it but I treat it with hot moist pack and black box for 20 minutes.

Neck pain can occur due to long sitting hours . Best way is to sit in right posture and exercise to set it right. Otherwise it can be dangerous.

Muscles function properly when they are in an optimal position. Meaning muscles do not work well when they are either stretched out or very tight. When this occurs, the muscles will pull on the bones abnormally and place added stress on the discs and joints in our neck, back, and shoulders. If this occurs for a long period of time, our joints become inflamed and the discs may bulge.

Neck exercises are a common part of almost any treatment program for neck pain. A typical neck exercise program will consist of a combination of stretching and strengthening exercises, aerobic conditioning, and possibly trigger point exercises.

I will not recommend to take any medicine for neck pain, unless it is severe. A Regular Exercise is good enough for neck pain.
