I don't know about the science behind it but I do know that the excessive use of antibacterial products is the reason that antibiotics don't work as well as they could . I purposely buy nonantibacterial soaps for handwashing.

You are right in thinking that antibacterial soap help bacteria in developing resistance over years of use.
For one, the various ingredients in antibacterial soap that kills bacteria have been found to be harmful for human cells too. One such example is triclosan, which has been found to kill human cells.
Recent studies also found a link between the use of these antibacterial Log in or Register to read more… |

Antibiotics meds (generic amoxil) are very effect than anti bactrerial soap.. As bacteria need cells to survive and build cells for themselves,
Amoxil thwarts the bacteria from multiplying by preventing the
formation of cell walls around them, thus making them perish.

I don't use antibacterial soap and I am as healthy as the next person. I don't get bacterial infections and I seldom get sick. I think the fuss about antibacterial soap is just commercial promotions. Our forebears did not use it and they had fewer sickness then.
