I recently had gall bladder surgery and I've still been having pain just as I did when I had gall bladder attacks. The doctor told me he is going to have to put a stent in my bile duct. He didn't really explain it to my satisfaction. Can anyone tell me what they mean by this?

A stent is used to widen a duct or vein. He may be suggesting that your bile duct is narrow and so preventing the release of bile. Have you been checked to make sure there are no more stones left in the duct?

About 15% of people who have symptoms from gallstones also have gallstones in the common bile duct. Common bile duct stones can cause life threatening complications. So these stones may need to be removed before or during surgery to remove your gallbladder.
