I often get pains in my chest. I think that the pain is actually coming from heartburn because there are never any other symptoms. How do you tell the difference between heartburn and heartattack/stroke pains?

I have read in an article, that heart attack symptoms are more subtle in women compared to men. So better get a 2d echo, to be sure.

I have searched on americanheart.org about the signs of heart attack. Chest pain is not included on the list.
"Here are signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:

Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in
the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that
goes away and comes back. It can Log in or Register to read more… |

I was going to say the same thing. It's not as easy to tell you are having a heart attack if you are a woman. It's best you call your doctor and tell them what you are experiencing, they will tell you if you should come in for an EKG.

I know, that is the scary thing. We could be having a heart attack and not even know it. The signs for a man are different than a woman?

Sometimes it's not easy to tell the difference. If this is something that occurs often I would suggest you go to the drug store and get yourself a nitro spray. If this occurs and you spray once under the tongue and the pain goes away then get yourself to your doctor and explain what happened and what you did and let him take it from there.

It is quite hard to tell the difference. There are some 'tells' that will help you differentiate but to be sure you must always go to your doctor to get it checked. This will also allow for peace of mind.
With a heart burn however, you will feel acid at the top of your throat if you have a bad one.

Heart burns usually occurs at the chest area. For heart attacks, there is a burning sensation on the left arm and it spreads through the other extremities of the body. If you feel heart burns then you should try to have a check up to know if it just a heart burn or could be early signs for heart attack.
