We have a friend who is a DO. He says that Red Rice Yeast reduces cholesterol the same way that Lipitor does, but just at a slower rate. Has anyone used Red Rice Yeast and seen results?

I had a friend who tried it and it didn't make a huge difference on her cholesterol levels. I heard that the FDA are currently trying to figure out whether or not to make this a prescription drug.

I heard this too because apparently it has the same effect as some cholesterol medications.

I was taking red rice and told my doctor he told me i might as well start a prescribed cholesterol medication which was more effective anyway.
