My doctor just ordered me to get a flu vaccine. I guess it's that time of the year!

I thought that you have to be high risk to get vaccinated!

Nope, not anymore. The CDC is recommending a yearly vaccine for everyone, except for babies younger than 6 months. And of course if you're allergic to it.

I think we've learned our lesson that there are really no high risk groups. It used to be that it was just the elderly or young babies that are in danger with the flu virus, but the swine flu has shown that it could kill virtually everybody.

You also need to get vaccinated this year because there is a new strain of the H1N1 virus. The vaccines available now can fight H3N2 flu, swine flue and type B flu.

There is even a extra dose flu vaccine for the elderly available. This is to aid them even if they have weakened immune systems.

Yes. But it's only for healthy people actually. Nasal flu sprays are actually weakened viruses as opposed to the dead viruses in flu shots.

I have never been one to go in and get shots or take medicine – unless it is life or death – so I try to keep myself healthy, during the cold and flu season especially! You should check it out of you are trying to fight through the cold season too
