A friend's daughter, who is only 11, was recently diagnosed with this disease. I don't know much about it, but is it a common thing that one so young be found to have it?

Crohn’s disease is capable of affecting people of all age groups, but is often diagnosed in people between 20 and 30 years old. Studies have revealed people of
Jewish decent have an increased risk of getting Crohn’s disease,
and African Americans are less likely to get Crohn’s
disease.

Crohn's disease can run in families. Your chances of getting it are higher if a close family member has it.
Smoking also puts you at higher risk for the disease.
The disease tends to affect younger people, with most diagnoses occuring between ages 15-30.
