Right now I still have mine which for some reason I never had them removed when I was younger, now I am going to need to get them out but I know the dentist mentioned perc's. I have had this type of pain killer before and it did not agree with me, what are some better options for pain relieft?

There is no set age. Some people, with an overcrowded jaw, will never get theirs through. Otherwise it can vary hugely, my own mother getting hers at 40. So you just can't say.

I had mine out when I was 18 but yes it can vary by individual and not everyone will know. I got a lot of pain in my jaw but mine were impacted and had to come out. I would go to the dentist and ask, he will know.

I had mine out when I was in my 20's. I only took Motrin 600 when I had mine pulled. That was all I needed. Motrin takes the swelling down and does have some pain reliever in it. You should ask your doctor about it.

My top wisdom teeth came in after I got an upper partial and it caused and implosion so they came through but my bottom wisdom teeth will never come out on their own. They are growing sideways and won't ever break the skin so if they become impacted the dentist told me I would have to have my jaw broken to get them out. I am now 65 so I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I had mine out when I was 18 and it was horribly painful. You are definitely going to need something for pain. There is no set age though and some people have room for them to come in so it's not a big deal.

All of mine have came in fine except for one that seems to want to try and come in sideways, its on hold for the next month or so until I can schedule time off from work to get it cut out. That does not even seem like something I would be happy about except I have a mouth not nearly large enough for all of my teeth.

All four of mine were sideways and impacted. I got all four taken out at once and it was not a happy time in my life. I definitely needed something strong for pain and it was several days before I was able to go off of them. I usually don't have trouble handling pain but I did with these.

I had mine removed when I was 17 because they were impacted. My son had his removed for the same reason when he was 18. The doctor gave him medication to keep the swelling down and told him to take Ibuprofen which worked out nicely.

My niece was given a few days worth of vicodin for her after care. That and an ice pack did the trick. Then she just took ibuprofen for any further discomfort on the following days.Â

Anbesol and pain killers like Ibuprofen seem to work better at alleviating the pain after the removal of a wisdom tooth. The removal of wisdom teeth is hard enough and you need as much comfort as possible.

I had dental surgery when I was a kid and I don't know if I will ever get mine or if they were already removed. I'm in my 20s and show no signs of them so far. I hear it's quite painful though so I'm a little nervous about getting them.

I have never had my wisdom teeth out but I can kind of feel them coming in and am scared to have them taken out. Â At the moment they are not causing a problem but fear they will.

My lower right wisdom has been causing me pain lately. I've been taking pain relievers and antibiotics on and off. Been postponing going to the dentist because I'm scared of dentists, tooth extraction and all. I'm still gathering enough strength to face the possibility of surgical removal of my wisdom. I'm also afraid of the cost of the surgery, not sure if it is Log in or Register to read more… |

Are wisdom teeth really problem teeth? Do they have to be surgically removed? All these stories of surgeries for wisdoms are scaring me. Can't they be extracted normally? . Mine are not causing me any problem right now though, thank God!

No, not all wisdoms are problem teeth or have to be surgically removed. I had my left upper wisdom that had a cavity extracted non-surgically by my dentist using the usual method under local anesthetics.

Simply as wisdom teeth, erupt between the ages of 17 and 21 years old. The average person's mouth will comfortably hold 28 of the 32 teeth we are predisposed to have. Since the wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt, there is often little room left to accommodate their size and anatomy.
During your check-up, your dentist may take a orthopantomogram x-ray to diagnose the need for Log in or Register to read more… |

I just went to a new dentist for my 6 month checkup the other day and she kept mentioning that my wisdom teeth are coming in and maybe I should look into getting them out. One has grown in completely and it feels perfectly fine, no pain at all. Are some dentists too quick to pull out the wisdom teeth? If they aren't causing me pain is there still reason to get them out?
