Lately, I have been very thirsty all the time as well as very tired. Some people say that I might have problems with diabetes. I don't have insurance right now so I would like to know if there are ways to find out without spending too much money on tests, etc.

Being thirsty a lot is a potential sign of having diabetes. I would recommend looking at your family history as well as your lifestyle. It's tough when you don't have insurance, but this is something that might need serious attention.

Family history is a good way to know whether you have the chance to get diabetes. But you can still be diabetic even if you don't have a family history of diabetics. Checking your urine if ants like it is one way to know whether you are high in blood sugar. A cut or a bruise that takes a very long time to heal is another sign.

Being extremely thirsty, having to go to the bathroom a lot, and being hungry all the time are some symptoms of diabetes. You can go to your local Walmart and for $10 buy a Reli-on (walmart brand) blood glucose meter and for another $10 buy a box of test strips. The meter comes with everything you need and lancets to check your blood sugar. Check it first thing in the morning and then 2 hours

Thirsty CANNOT judge that you are in diabetes. There are three main characters in diabetes. Polyphagia (hungry faster), polyuria (more to pee) and polydipsi (thirsty).

However, the best way is that you should identify your family's medical record and health check up of course!
