Has anyone ever tried the ear candles to relieve inner ear pain or to help remove wax? I have always wondered if it worked and if it hurt at all?

I have a friend who has this done all the time. It shouldn't hurt at all and it really helps her. Another friend of mine had it done for her daughter who had a lot of ear pain and it helped tremendously. I would just make sure to check references for who you find to do it.

Ear candles make me really nervous, honestly. I'd rather try peroxide and if the wax buildup is too severe, go to a doctor for removal.

I haven't tred using ear candles. I'm actually kind of scared of ear candling. Like HypoGirl, I'd rather go to a professional for ear cleaning or removal of compacted ear wax.

I have heard from people that ear candling works but I have also heard that it can be dangerous and it's nto a good idea to do it yourself. I would recommend consulting a doctor.

Ear candling is an old home remedy said to clear out excess ear wax and
debris in your ear. Home remedy reports have stated that ear candling
can help increase hearing ability, clear sinuses and rid the ear of
harmful bacteria. It is not used for curing types of ear infections or
diseases. There is debate as to whether this process actually works, and

I know people who have tried it and swear by it but I have never done it myself. I would consider giving it a try if I could find someone to help me.

When I had some ear issues a few years ago I went to the doctor and asked about ear candling. She said that it is never something you should do at home. Does anybody know what the dangers are?

You can set yourself or your house on fire that is definitely a little too dangerous for me to even bother trying!

Ear candling requires the use of ear candles. Ear candles are made of
cotton or linen that's wound into a cone shape, soaked in wax, and then
allowed to harden.
This hollow candle is inserted through a hole in a plate specially
designed to collect wax, and placed into the external ear canal. The
candle is lit at the opposite end.

I actually had friend who did just that, he was trying to do this on his own. Doesn't seem worth it just go to an ENT.
