I have this incessant ringing in my ear and it is really bad because I lose sleep over this.  I also have a hard time concentrating.  I have yet to see my doctor, but I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this or would know what this is and how to stop it?

Now it could very well be a old wives tale only but I remember growing up hearing that when this happens, that is a certain tone that you will never hear again. That the ringing we hear is the slow death of that tone and once its gone its gone for good. Confused

My former boyfriend had this, and what helped was a hot compress on his neck.  Supposedly, hot compresses help your blood circulation in the area and help tone down the symptoms.  You can also try massaging the area for the same reason.
