The diet for someone who has gout is quite similar to anyone who is trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. People get gout by over-indulging in meat (particularly organ meats), seafood and alcohol. Gout is caused by high levels of uric acid which causes blood crystals to form around joints. Uric acid is used to break down purines so people with gout should avoid purine-heavy foods like organ
