In men there is really nothing you can do as usually it is genetic, it may be in some women too. What I would recommend though is you get your thyroid tested to be sure it is functioning right. Thinning hair is one of the symptoms it is not.
Several different issues can cause an increase in hair loss. If your hair is falling out a fairly constant rate you can consider it genetics.
However if you see a sudden increase you may want to give your doctor a call.
For the genetic side there are drugs available, plugs available, and several home remedies. Honestly I haven't seen many that are successful but they Log in or Register to read more…

Also, you could try switching your shampoo and conditioner. I used the same kind of shampoo for over a year, then I noticed that my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. (Actually, my family noticed; they could see the hairs on whatever surface they were falling on, and they were a little grossed out.) I switched shampoos, and I'm losing a lot less; they're not grossed out nearly as Log in or Register to read more…

Interesting, when you think about it though the shampoo route is probably the way to go and probably has a strong effect on the hair loss or retainment.
I would suspect that if the shampoo your using is excessively drying out your hair then it could be the root cause of the problem.
I have never heard about shampoo and conditioner causing hair loss. I know if you stick with the same kind of shampoo for a long period of time you hair will become dull. If you are losing a lot of hair, you should check with the doctor. I bet you are not getting enough of the needed nutrients each day.
I just posted in another topic about thin hair. I had a problem of hair falling out because of medications and a friend of mine told me about Ecrinal Shampoo and Conditioner. They have other leave in products as well but it is made especially for thinning or falling hair. I used it and now I no longer have this problem. It can be purchased either online or at any drugstore OTC. I Log in or Register to read more…

3. Use a mild shampoo.
4. Dry your hair by using fan or blow dryer without using a comb.
When hair starts falling out, it can seem like the end of the world.
Follow these tips to try and reduce it as much as possible.if you started straightening it or if you started applying lots of mousse. It is likely that this could be the reason. If it is repeatedly changed it could cause damage to your hair as shampoos aren't natural,
