Hi. The sad truth is yes, Meridia has been found to increase heart attack incidences. Not only that it has also been found to increase the likelihood of a stroke among its users!

Wait that is true, it does increase the risk of both stroke and heart attacks, BUT only in people who have heart problems already when they started taking the medicine!

The FDA prohibits doctors from prescribing Meridia to those who have heart problems. But in Europe, I think this drug was banned.

The FDA is actually looking into pulling Meridia out of the market and will have a panel later this month, in any case these kinds of reports are very alarming because it just shows that drugs are getting approved without properly studying them first.

I've been on Meridia myself, but I found it ineffective. The highest weight I lost was about 2 lbs. Certainly not worth the increase risk!12
