Dr. Walter Willet's Mediterranean diet was first introduced in the 1990s. With its combination of high monosaturated fat and fiber foods and low saturated fat, as well as the use of olive oil and wine, the Diet has been touted as a good prevention method against depression. I knew that this diet sounded familiar, and I am right. But the reason is that I've just recently came across an online news article that says that the Mediterranean diet actually increases the risk of heart attacks!

Well, I am not surprised. I have been following a lot of diets over the past years and at best, the "benefits" that is said to come from the Mediterranean diet have been attributed to chance rather than causality. There has been no concrete scientific proof that the Mediterranean diet really delivers the benefits it claims to deliver.
