We have a 7 year old shepherd mix dog. His elbow is swollen so he limps or holds it up. We did take him to his vet and they did X-rays. Nothing broken and no arthritis. They gave us some anti inflammatory meds for him. It`s been two weeks and he still is not better. We are keeping him in our room so he doesn`t run around. We don`t have a crate to put him in. Someone from the SPCA told us that

We had a dog that had a bad hip.  We were never actually able to see swelling, but we could tell by the way he walked, when he was having pain.  It's hard to limiit thier movement, but do the best you can, and keep giving him the meds.  You might want to call your vet soon if you don't see any improvement.
