If you are, or if you know a cutter, can you tell me how you go about helping them? I just saw a friend's arms for the first time ever yesterday as she always covers them-and she has a number of very fresh looking scars.

If a person is at the point of hurting themselves, I would think they need professional help. I would let them know that you care about them, are there for them and will do what you can to help them.

Sadly, I happen to know a person like that. It makes me so sad because she is still very young and she has repeatedly cut herself. Her depression seems to be very deep and has a mysterious origin. She feels that nobody loves her.
I think these kind of people need their family badly, more than they would admit it. They also need real sympathetic friends who are willing to listen Log in or Register to read more… |

Do cutters hurt themselves because they like feeling the pain? Or do they have the intention of killing themselves?
