My wife's mother had dysplasia when she was younger, and I believe it was pretty serious. Does this increase the risk of my wife getting this condition? I know that the risk of getting cancer is often genetic, so I would think this might be too.

I'm not certain, but my understanding is dysplasia is typically generated by the HPV virus, which is sexually transmitted and very common. That's why pap smears are so important for women.

I think perhaps not all dysplasia is HPV related, and therefore it is possible that it could be genetic, to some degree. I suspect that doctors don't really know much about the causes of things like dysplasia at this point, but are still doing research.

I had no idea dysplasia was related to the HPV virus. It does seem like this is something that's not very well understood, so I guess I'll just have to encourage my wife to continue getting her regular checkups on schedule.

I dont have idea about dysplasia but now the sicientist has reaserched one of the reason of any type of cancer reasearch says that before getting the any type of cancer he/she gets one type of fever and this cause in cancer but i don't think this is true what you think ablout this..
