Smoking chronically deprives the skin of oxygen and nutrients. So some smokers appear pale, while others develop uneven coloring.   There are more than 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, and many of them trigger the destruction of collagen and elastin. These are the fibers that give your skin its strength and elasticity. Smoking or even being around secondhand smoke "degrades the building

Great information, Jerri! Smoking is a dirty, disgusting habit that only makes people look dirty and disgusting!!! I understand that smokers are physically addicted to cigarettes, but if you decide to quit the benefits are almost instantaneous!

Smoking can lead to lung cancer and chronic lung problems, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which can lead to a lower quality of life and death. Cigarettes damage the body within minutes of taking a puff, new research suggests. I think everyone knows the health risks to smoking but NOT everyone realizes how hard it is to do. I haven't had a cigarette in 7 months (I am pregnant) and I still crave one every single day. It is something that smokers struggle with everyday for the rest of their lives even after they quit because the craving NEVER goes away completely. I know someone who quit using heroin but

Yeah that's a good point Leila. I have never smoked myself and I am very grateful for that. I wonder how to educate kids not to start smoking in the first place. Is it something only smokers can do?

Another reason why people should stop smoking is that they affect even the people who don't smoke. There are many people who die from lung cancer just because they inhale the smoke from other people's cigarettes.
