How do I know if someone is having a stroke? If I suspect someone is having a stroke, what should I do? My mom was feeling weakness to her left arm and I was concern about it.

Since weakness to one side of the body is a prominent sign of someone having a stroke, you were right to be concerned. A stroke is a very serious emergency, and your mom should go to the hospital to make sure she's ok.

I have a friend who had a stroke a couple months ago. He said he woke up in the middle of the night and he had a tremendous amount of pain in his left leg and arm. He said it was very strange because it was like his arm and leg were in pain, but numb at that same time.

signs and symptoms of stoke:
- numbness or weakness resulting in complete paralysis of one side of the body
- sudden loss of vision
- dizziness
- communication problems, difficulty talking and understanding what others are saying
- problems with balance and coordination
- difficulty swallowing
- sudden and severe headache,
