I was diagnosed with papilliary and follicular cancer of the thyroid in 2001. It came back in 2007 and I had to have RAI again. Has anyone here experienced thyroid cancer? Has it come back and if so how many times?

I am interested in your experience, I had an ultrasound of my thyroid in 2009 and they discovered several growths they called nodules. This sort of freaked me out, the doctor said it was a multi nodular goiter yet he didn;t do anything to make sure it wasn't cancer, I was expecting a needle aspiration or something but nothing…maybe I have a bad doctor? I hope you are doing better now

Are you doing radioactive iodine treatment? I had to do that when it was discovered that my thyroid was overactive but I did not have cancer.

I had a girlfriend whose mother had thyroid cancer and she had surgery and radiation twice as it came back. With the combination of the original surgery and radiation twice she lived out many happy years. So take heart and know that it doesn't mean the end of the world for you. You still have hope of living to a ripe old age.

I underwent radioactive iodine treatment for hyperactive thyroid in 2001. Is there a possibility that I may develop thyroid cancer? What are the symptoms?
