My two year old is constipated and I bought some baby laxatives. The box says these things are supposed to work in a matter of minutes, but it's been a little while and so far nothing is happening. Does anyone have any experience with these things?

Make a research, there are home remedies that can be used to cure toddlers constipation like giving a bottle with 4oz of sugar water coz sugar is a natural stool softener.

Does he/she like fruits? If so, try papayas. Papayas are known to help much with constipation. You can make the baby a small glass of papaya juice and get him/her taking it. I wonder if papayas are easy to find in your location though.

Thanks for the help everyone :) Thankfully, she did finally have a bm late last night and again this morning. The stuff I gave her didn't work in minutes as promised, but it did come through. She still won't eat anything, but she drank a full sippy cup of juice this morning so I'm happy about that.

Do you give her apple juice regularly? Apple juice or applesauce might help to prevent this problem again in the future. There are always prunes too, but to me they don't taste nearly as pleasant as apples.

If you go the prunes route just know that prunes work quickly so don't feed your baby prunes and then run out with them to do errands. You might get a nasty surprise!

My pediatrician had me give my daughters Miralax each day to keep them from being constipated. I thought it was going to be terrible, but it wasn't. Unlike the other laxatives, it is safe to do every day to keep them from being constipated instead of just when the problem arises.
