During the beginning of Spring, I have a severe cause of allergies. I have never taken anything for because I have a fear of taking medicine that make you drowsy. Do anyone know of a good allergy medicine that doesn't cause drowsiness?

There are many today that are specifically non-sedating. Pop into your drug store and ask the pharmacist, or read the back of the boxes. They all tell you if they are not going to make you drowsy.

I have never had any problems with the over the counter Claritin if that works for you, but Benadryl has always tended to knock me out!

Some of the allergy medication that is over the counter can cause drowsiness but there is stuff like Claretin that won't put you to sleep. For prescription medication, I take Allegra and that doesn't make me sleepy.

My wife takes Advil Cold or something like that. It helps a lot with her allergies and she says it does not make her tired at all. I take Zyrtec everyday and I'm good with that too.

[b]I'm sure there are many medications that will help allergies without making you drowsy and as far as I'm concerned the best person to talk to about this is the pharmacist. They know what ingredients are in each type of allergy medication and they can tell you if those ingredients will make you drowsy or not. Much more, I feel, that the doctor can. He might know of some of them but I'm Log in or Register to read more… |

Although there are medications that may make you drowsy depending on person to person, there are medications that will not make you drowsy. Try consulting your general practitioner about this and asking for the medication that suits you.

Try Allegra. I have horrible dust allergies, that have gotten worse as I've gotten older. I just started Allegra from emedoutlet as per doctor prescription -but it might takes along time to take effect (months). It didn't show any serious side effects yet to me. But I feel vomiting sometime. Apart from that I've no issue..

Allegra does cause drowsiness it is one of it's adverse reactions. Clarinex and singulair however do not cause drowsiness.
